CIA Celebrates Pollinator Week

A Buzz-Worthy CIA Celebration

Author Madeleine White ’29 is a Food Business Management major.

Sting is our beloved mascot here at CIA and makes sure everyone is proud to bee CIA! You have most likely seen Sting’s bumble bee face around campus and social media, hyping up our CIA Steels sports teams, and celebrating each student from orientation to graduation. For Pollinator Week we decided to celebrate Sting in return. Students decorated cupcakes to look like bees and were able to make their own flower bouquets to spread the love of pollinators’ week.

To celebrate Sting and our hard-working pollinators, CIA also has a mission to promote sustainability and protect the wildlife that bees depend on. For example, reusable to-go boxes at The Egg dining venue in the Student Commons and limited paper use are some of the step’s CIA takes. CIA also holds high standards with our compost to help limit our carbon footprint. CIA’s Student Council has been a great help with the movement towards sustainability, and Sting loves all the efforts students make to create a healthy environment here on campus. From nature’s home to our home, you may see Sting buzzing by during the events here on campus!
