• What You Need To Know About Your Summer Entry Date

The CIA has decided to postpone the April 28 entry date. Currently, the summer semester will begin on May 18. Circumstances continue to change quickly and the CIA is monitoring the latest information from various government agencies closely. We ask for your patience and understanding as we are all dealing with an unprecedented situation affecting not only the CIA community, but our country and the world. And we are committed to providing you with information as soon as it is available.

We understand that the current circumstances resulting from the COVID-19 outbreak can pose additional challenges to you and your family during a time already filled with so many questions and decisions to be made. Please know that the CIA admissions team is here to assist you. You can reach out to us via admissions@culinary.edu or directly to the appropriate admissions counselor or enrollment manager. You can find them here.

  • We understand you may be eager and excited to start your CIA journey—and you still should be! This change will impact the timing of your enrollment tasks, move-in dates, and deadlines. Although the summer semester will now begin in May, you will still want to prepare diligently for your arrival (and you will now have two extra weeks to do so)!

Things you can do to prepare:

    • Continue to work on enrollment tasks as you normally would! While deadlines may be adjusted, you will still want to refer to the checklist on your student portal to ensure necessary items are completed in a timely manner. Be sure to prioritize—completing your housing application, uniform order, medical forms, and arranging payment plans for your first semester balance.
For New York and California: Move-in day and orientation will take place on Sunday, May 17. We are still finalizing the details and will share them as soon as they are available. Stay tuned.

For Texas: Stay tuned for updates on orientation. We are still finalizing the details and will share them as soon as they are available.
While we want to ensure tasks are completed in a timely manner, we will want to work together to see if accommodations will be needed for certain deadlines. The bill due date will continue to remain 30 days prior to the start date (originally March 29, will now be April 18). Please note you do not need to wait for the deadline. You are able to submit payment, secure a loan, or sign up for the payment plan with the first payment scheduled, prior to the deadline.

Please continue to work on getting your medical forms completed. Completed forms are required in order to begin classes, therefore it is important to have them submitted prior to your arrival on campus.
You are not alone. Many students and families have been making arrangements to travel to the CIA for the April 28 start date. The safety of our students, faculty, staff, and guests, is our top priority, so we appreciate your patience and understanding if you are needing to rearrange your plans due to the new date. It is in your best interest to contact your airline/transportation servicer to see what your options are. Please keep us informed if there are factors related to COVID-19 travel regulations that would prevent you from enrolling on May 18.
If you are feeling sick in any way you should not travel or come to campus. It is important to call your healthcare provider immediately to find out if you should be seen by your doctor. Once you have worked with your healthcare provider to determine your next course of action, please give us a call to update your enrollment plans.
We will work with you on your options! We are here to help ensure that you make the best possible decision under these circumstances. We can answer all questions related to your tuition deposit, past payments, future payments, etc.
