Chef Harold Dieterle—a Long Island, NY, native and founder of HD Hospitality—is a restaurateur and author best known for winning the first season of Bravo’s Top Chef in 2006. After high school, he worked in some of Spain’s top kitchens and then returned to the U.S. to attend the Culinary Institute of America. After graduating, he worked at well-known establishments on Long Island, including Della Femina, and in Manhattan, most notably the 1770 House and The Harrison. He went on to open three restaurants in New York and published a cookbook, Kitchen Notebook in 2014. He has made numerous media appearances and was recently a guest judge on the Netflix series Next Gen Chef, filmed at his alma mater.
