More than 40 chefs from all over the world competed in the Paella Challenge
in San Antonio in March. More than 200 people came to watch and taste the creations at the annual event organized by Johnny Hernandez ’89.
Judges presented awards in both Classic and Contemporary categories, with the public selecting the People’s Choice Award. Eight high school teams also competed, with the winning team receiving an all-expense paid trip to New York City and the Hyde Park campus.
The Paella Challenge, now in its 5th year, benefits the CIA and the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Education Foundation.
