Marc Weber Returns to Alma Mater to Deliver Commencement Keynote
Hyde Park, NY, January 27, 2020 – Marc Weber, founder and owner of New York metro area’s ONTHEMARC events company and catering business, was the commencement speaker at the Culinary Institute of America on January 24. Addressing the newest graduates of his alma mater, the 2005 CIA graduate advised them to be both confident and humble.
“It’s important that we have confidence,” Mr. Weber told recipients of associate degrees in Culinary Arts and Baking and Pastry Arts. “You need to be confident to be a leader. But without humility, it’s really impossible to grow.”
Mr. Weber founded ONTHEMARC in 2006 and has turned it into a multimillion-dollar company. He is also part owner of The Inn at Longshore in Westport, CT. Earlier in his career, Weber was a private chef for celebrities such as comedian Robin Williams, NBA star Allan Houston, and TV producer Rob Burnett. His first cookbook, Beginnings: How the Party Started, was published in 2018.
Active in his community, Mr. Weber donates food and time to non-profit organizations and, through his company, provides meals for the homeless. His philanthropy also includes the ONTHEMARC Young Caterer’s Scholarship at CIA.
