Summer Activities Heating Up on Campus

One of the benefits of a CIA degree is that you complete it almost a year ahead of other colleges. With three semesters a year, one being held during the summer, students are able to graduate and get into their dream careers quicker. This also allows for continuous growth of their culinary, baking, or hospitality skills that need consistent training. Despite keeping academic momentum, the summer semester is incredibly fun here at CIA!
Of course, there are plenty of food-based events, we are CIA after all! Weekly free ice cream is handed out every Thursday. There are multiple student competitions—French Fry and Mocktail—which provide CIA students with opportunities to showcase their skills, collaborate with peers, and gain experience in a competitive environment. Also, with the help of Isbella Missel, an adjunct professor and residence hall director, students are able to grow their own produce and harvest during the summer semester. The Tea Pot and Coffee Clubs keep the student body refreshed, with coffee and tea tastings all summer long. My personal favorite was Teapot Club’s blind tasting event, and getting to try tea made with produce harvested from the teaching garden!
If you are interested in sports, you’ll enjoy the weekly soccer games held on Sundays, open to all students. Or other events like frisbee and wiffleball are very popular! These competitions reward students with a variety of prizes. If you want to be outside, but not interested in sports, you may enjoy events such as building a birdhouse or flower bouquet. Grab your friends and head to bonfire night, making s’mores and laughing around the fire. If it gets too warm, head inside to enjoy a movie night held by SPICE. CIA offers all the activities you could enjoy during the summer, and more! Complete your degree in record time and enjoy all the benefits of a CIA summer.
