CIA Students Embrace the Holiday Season

As the school year comes to an end, snow begins to fall signaling the arrival of a season filled with warmth, joy, and most importantly food! This season brings together friends and family and creates cherished memories. It’s the perfect opportunity to showcase some CIA-level skills at these gatherings, adding a touch of intrigue and excitement. This year, an increasing number of students are gearing up to host or attend holiday parties. In the midst of this bustling season, here are some tips from CIA students to ensure your festivities run seamlessly.

Tips for the Holidays:

Organize Fun Activities - CIA Bingo
  • Organize Fun Activities: “I really look forward to wearing ugly sweaters with friends. We also participate in either a white elephant gift exchange or a secret Santa.” —Paige Lewis ’24.

These are the kinds of experiences that effortlessly bring family and friends closer together, fostering an atmosphere of joy and bonding.

Encourage a Potluck Style Party - CIA Holiday Cookies
  • Encourage a Potluck Style Party: “Every year me and my friends host a holiday party and we each bring a dish. My favorite dish to bring is my triple garlic mashed potatoes. It’s such a fantastic way for everyone to share their favorite recipes and showcase their culture. I love how it brings us all together.” —Anna Franks ’25.

This will help prevent the host from having the sole responsibility of cooking. But it also provides a chance for friends to learn about different cultures and recipes.

Plan Ahead - CIA Student Government
  • Plan Ahead: “Whenever I arrange a party, I make sure that I plan ahead to avoid getting stressed out. Whether it’s planning what to cook or what to bring to a party, I’m always prepared.” —Andrew Moran ’24.

Careful planning in advance ensures you’ll have a seamless event, prevent mishaps, and guarantee a good time is had by all!

However, you choose to celebrate, we hope these tips help you to enjoy your time with friends and family this holiday season.
