The CIA at San Antonio has a state-of-the-art network infrastructure that supports a high-speed wireless network. Buildings on campus are equipped with an 802.11 a/b/g/n-compliant wireless network. It is recommended that students bring a computer to campus so they may take full advantage of the wireless network. For those students who do not have their own computer, there is a computer lab with PC workstations with various software applications installed, including Microsoft Office and ESHA Food Processor.
Students are provided with account information to access the various online resources that are available at the college. From the CIA Main Menu, students can find school announcements, scheduled club activities, student services departmental pages, and access their Culinary e-mail account. Personal data such as class schedules, grades, and financial aid, student account, and residence life information are also available through the CIA Main Menu. Much of the same information is also available from the mobile CIA Main Menu, which is conveniently accessible from tablets and other portable devices.
Other online resources provided to enhance the learning experience include an online course guide management system, the digital video library, and the library catalog.
Peer-to-peer file sharing is not allowed and is blocked on the CIA network using bandwidth-shaping technology. Under the Higher Education Opportunity Act (HR 4137), illegal distribution of copyrighted materials may be subject to criminal and civil penalties. The CIA is legally obligated to assist authorities in identifying individuals who violate copyright law pertaining to peer-to-peer file sharing. It is also in violation of school policy to use technology designed to circumvent the blocking of this activity.
