Hyde Park, NY – The Culinary Institute of America (CIA) in Hyde Park, NY
has launched a new series of short video profiles in select U.S. markets. The videos
showcase successful alumni and highlight the breadth of career tracks within
the food world in which CIA alumni have become leaders.
In Philadelphia, the featured alumnus is chef and
entrepreneur Greg Vernick, who earned his associate degree in culinary arts
from the CIA in 2005. Vernick was raised around food, helping his grandfather
in Friedman's Market, a butcher shop and market in Philadelphia started by his
great-grandfather. Now he and his wife are the owners of Vernick Food &
Drink, which opened in 2012. Focusing on creating approachable, seasonal food, Chef
Vernick uses only the finest ingredients to create a simple yet refined dining
experience. StarChefs.com named him a
Philadelphia Rising Star Chef for 2013.

This first group of video shorts also features Gretchen
Thomas, wine and spirits director for Barcelona Wine Bar & Restaurant group
in Connecticut; Carolina Gomez, owner of Three Little Pigs Charcuterie &
Salumi shop in Washington, DC; and Michael Ferraro, executive chef and partner at
Delicatessen and Macbar in New York City.
