The Culinary Institute of America Honors Veterans

All Who Served Our Nation Receive a Complimentary Meal at Campus Restaurants November 12

Hyde Park, NY – The Culinary Institute of America was established in 1946 to assist World War II veterans joining the post-war workforce. As a “Thank you” to all who have served in the armed forces, the CIA is offering a complimentary lunch or dinner at its campus restaurants in Hyde Park, NY on Tuesday, November 12. (The college’s restaurants are closed on Monday, November 11.)

“The CIA is proud to have an opportunity to give back to our veterans,” says Waldy Malouf, the college’s senior director of food and beverage operations. “We are delighted to continue the mission of our founders to educate and support our men and women in uniform.”

Veterans dining in the American Bounty Restaurant and The Bocuse Restaurant will receive a complimentary meal (reservations required). Without a reservation, current and former service members can stop by the CIA for a meal on the house at the Tavern at American Bounty, Apple Pie Bakery Café (up to $20), and The Egg student dining venue (up to $15).

This offer is valid for veterans only (with their veteran ID), for either lunch or dinner on November 12. Alcohol is not included. Reservations can be made by calling 845-451-1011 (American Bounty) or 845-451-1012 (Bocuse) or by visiting www.ciarestaurantgroup.com.

The CIA’s commitment to America’s service members goes back to its founding, when the first class of students consisted of World War II veterans studying with the support of the original GI Bill. For more than 70 years, the college has worked closely with all branches of the U.S. military, providing culinary training for active service members and college education for those beginning their post-military careers. Dozens of students who have served on active duty in the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, or Coast Guard currently attend the CIA, many with the assistance of GI Bill and Yellow Ribbon Program benefits.
