A New York native who began cooking professionally at 13, Torrisi formed a creative partnership with fellow CIA graduate and honoree Mario Carbone ’00 and partner Jeff Zalaznick that became Major Food Group (MFG), which is now one of the world’s most leading hospitality companies.
Torrisi’s early dream of opening an Italian deli materialized in 2009, with Torrisi Italian Specialties, a small Mulberry Street shop that quickly became a culinary landmark. In 2022, he reimagined that vision with the eponymous Torrisi, an acclaimed restaurant that showcases his ability to transform nostalgia into contemporary cuisine.
As the culinary architect of MFG’s international portfolio, Torrisi leads research and development, shapes menus, mentors chefs, and defines the creative DNA of more than 50 restaurants, hotels, and branded residences worldwide.
