A new report from Georgetown University’s Portion Balance Coalition and Earth Commons Institute addresses the broader issue of restaurant food waste, which is estimated to shrink profits by $162 billion annually. The report, developed in collaboration with Menus of Change University Research Collaborative and supported by ReFED, reveals that roughly 17% of meals go uneaten. Nearly 70% of that waste comes from what customers leave on their plates.
