An Ode to CIA Pizza

A Love Letter to The Egg’s Pizza Station

Author Madeleine White is a Food Business Management major.

The Egg is one of CIA’s dining halls and the home of the Student Commons. CIA students take a semester of classes we call “blocks” where you take five different block classes. One is High Volume Production in The Egg. You prepare meals and serve them for all the students and guests that dine here, which means there are a few hours a day when those stations close so students can prep.

During those hours there are three additional stations open. A self-serve salad station, a smash burger station, and my favorite, the pizza station. At any given time, I would run into The Egg and leave with a hand spun, hot out of the oven, pizza within 10 minutes! It is perfectly gooey, crispy, and there is anything you could want on a pizza. There are plenty of options to choose from, with a new specialty pizza each day. Cooked in a stone fire pizza oven, making a perfectly browned crust.

Ask any CIA student if they have had a pizza from The Egg, and they will tell you they have had countless. We have all gotten familiar with the employee who is stationed there during the hours when students are busy prepping for service. While it is not the most exciting dish made here at CIA, I think all students have a special place in their heart for CIA pizza.
