What to Bring: New York Campus
To enjoy campus life fully, students might want to bring the
following to their residence hall when moving in:
- Refrigerator (no larger than 3.5 cubic feet, one per room)
- Bicycles (can be stored in the room, but there are also bike storage rooms
and bike racks on campus)
- Flashlight
- Microwaves (.8 cubic feet and smaller) are permissible
- Alarm clock, with battery backup or windup
- Iron
- Coffee maker
- Stereo
- Television
- Hair dryer/curler
- Computer
- Surge protector
- Fan
- Personal toiletries
- Cleaning supplies
- Sheets, pillows, blankets, towels (mattresses are 34 inches by 80
inches)
Please note: Double rooms measure approximately 12 feet by 20
feet.
What to Leave Home
For safety reasons, the items listed below are not permitted in
the CIA's residence halls. This list is not all-inclusive.
- Any other type of electrical cooking device (coil, electric grill, toaster,
etc.)
- Electric blanket
- Electric musical instruments
- Portable heater
- Air conditioner
- Pets
- Waterbed
- Any furniture not issued by the CIA
- Halogen lamps, lava, and octopus lamps
