What to Bring to Campus
To enjoy campus life fully, students might want to bring the following to their residence hall when moving in:
- Refrigerator (no larger than 3.5 cubic feet, one per room)
Note:
Small refrigerators are already furnished in the Guest House and
commerical refrigerators are in the communal kitchens of the Vineyard
Lodges.
- Bicycles (can be stored in the room, but there are also bike storage rooms and bike racks on campus)
- Flashlight
- Microwaves (.8 cubic feet and smaller) are permissible
Note: Microwaves are already furnished in the Guest House and in the communal kitchens of the Vineyard Lodges.
- Alarm clock, with battery backup or windup
- Iron (communal irons are available in all laundry rooms)
- Coffee maker
- Stereo
- Hair dryer/curler
Note: Doubles in the Guest House are already furnished with a single hair dryer.
- Computer with printer
- Surge protector
- Fan
- Personal toiletries
- Cleaning supplies
What to Leave Home
For safety reasons, the items listed below are not permitted in the CIA's
residence halls. This list is not all-inclusive.
- Any other type of electrical cooking device (coil, electric grill, toaster, etc.)
- Electric blanket
- Musical instruments
- Portable heater
- Air conditioner
- Pets
- Waterbed
- Any furniture not issued by the CIA
- Halogen lamps, lava, and octopus lamps
Unless you have a doctor's note, all sheets, pillows, blankets, and towels are provided by the CIA.
