  • CIA Basketball

Originally coached by Mike Murphy, the basketball team was one of the CIA’s flagship intercollegiate sports programs when the college joined the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in 2004. Two conference tournament berths and a number of individual honors would highlight the decade to follow.

    Team Highlights:

    • 2008–09: Qualified for the conference postseason tournament for the first time ever, as the #4 seed. Steels captain Dan Jackson was named to the All-Conference team.
    • 2009–10: Claimed another postseason berth, again earning the #4 tournament seed. The season highlight was a victory over Berkeley College, the previous year’s regular season champ. Victor Lane and Corey Johnson were named to the All-Conference team.
    • 2013–14: This season featured a team-record five-game winning streak. Avery Britton was honored by the league’s coaches as an All-Conference team selection.
    • 2014–15: Team finished with a 9-7 overall record, the most wins ever for a CIA hoops team. For the second straight year, Avery Britton was named to the All-Conference team.
