Student Recreation Center

At the CIA, there is plenty to do outside of the classroom. The Student Activities Office, housed in the Student Recreation Center, sponsors a variety of entertainment and leisure activities. These include dances, bands, comedy nights, films, outdoor excursions, and cooking competitions.

Located behind Rosenthal Hall overlooking the Hudson River, the 52,000-square-foot Student Recreation Center includes:

  • 1/12-mile indoor running track
  • Aerobic dance studio
  • Courtside Café and Pub
  • Fitness center
  • Free-weight room
  • Game room and TV lounges
  • Gymnasium with two official-size basketball/volleyball courts
  • Multi-purpose conference room
  • Outdoor deck and banquet kitchen
  • Six-lane swimming pool/natatorium
  • Staff offices
  • Student Government Association office
  • Student/faculty/staff locker rooms, showers, and saunas
  • Two racquetball courts

Outdoor sports facilites include:

  • Softball/soccer field of natural turf
  • Two Fast-Dry® tennis courts

CIA students can join intramural competitions in recreational ice hockey, basketball, tennis, softball, flag football, racquetball, indoor soccer, and volleyball. The CIA competes in soccer, cross country, basketball, and tennis in the Hudson Valley Men's Athletic Conference.

A variety of Student Activities programs, fitness programs, and intramural and recreational and competitive sports activities are available to students seven days a week. Please consult our Student Activities/Recreation monthly calendar for program dates and registration deadlines.

Intercollegiate Athletics Programs >>

For leisure-time activities, students can enjoy nearby Catskill and Berkshire ski areas, local golf courses, Taconic State Park, and New York City museums and theaters.
