Discover Your Future

If you love cooking and baking, then come do something that could set the course for the rest of your life! Apply for Career Discovery for High School Students at The Culinary Institute of America's Hyde Park, NY campus and get a taste of what it's like to be a CIA student. You'll also learn about career opportunities in the dynamic foodservice and hospitality industry, the largest private employer in the nation.

This program is designed for High School Students who will be entering their junior or senior year by July 2009, are at least 16 years of age, are considering a culinary career, and meet admissions requirements for the CIA's degree programs.

A Hands-On Exploration

In this journey into the culinary world, you'll have the opportunity to:

  • Work in a CIA kitchen with the guidance of our acclaimed chef-instructors
  • Attend and participate in cooking demonstrations, lectures, and hands-on production
  • Learn about the wide range of opportunities in the foodservice and hospitality industry

Application Requirements

  • Personal Statement – In approximately 150 words, please describe your interest in the foodservice industry and any industry experience you have. In addition, include your expectations of this program and what you hope to gain from it
  • Letter of Recommendation – from a teacher or school counselor
  • Submit a completed application
  • Only completed applications will be considered for selection into this program

Special Enrollment Offer:

* Your program fee will be applied to your first-semester tuition when you subsequently enroll in a CIA bachelor's, associate degree program or baking and pastry certificate program at either our Hyde Park, NY or St. Helena, CA campuses.
