ASK A STUDENT

Hello my name is Ross

Hello my name is Ross and I'm from Grand Rapids, Michigan. I am currently pursuing my associates degree in Culinary Arts. My current class is in the Escoffier Restaurant.

Unlike most students, I was a late bloomer in discovering my passion for the culinary arts. I never worked in a restaurant until I was 19 years old. After my first few months, I was hooked. I knew that the restaurant/hospitality industry was special. I had never had so much satisfaction at work. I looked forward to it. After two years of working (and watching the Food Network), I realized that I wanted to get a degree to back up my experience. As I began my search for a culinary school, I was inclined to attend the local community college. But every time I googled "culinary schools" I kept coming across the CIA. I realized that they were second to none. Other colleges I was interested in were using text books written by the CIA. Plus the CIA's curriculum was the most intense.

The CIA has fueled my passion for the culinary arts and has morphed me into thinking like a professional, not a cook. The externship program has taken me to Charleston, South Carolina for an unforgettable experience. I've networked with some of the best chefs in the industry and have career changing resources at my finger tips.

Feel free to email anytime with questions or concerns.
