Vice President for Advancement

Nancy Harvin is Vice President for Advancement at The Culinary Institute of America (CIA), where she is responsible for the college's alumni relations and fund-raising initiatives.

Ms. Harvin joined the CIA administration in May 2008, after spending more than 20 years as a front-line fund raiser. Ms. Harvin served 10 years as director of principal gifts at her alma mater, Smith College in Northampton, MA, completing a campaign raising more than $385 million. She began her fundraising career at Smith as regional campaign director for a campaign in the 1980s that netted $163 million.

Between her stints at Smith, she served for eight years as the director of leadership gifts and director of external affairs at Northfield Mount Hermon School in Northfield, MA, completing a $35 million campaign and tripling annual gift receipts.

Ms. Harvin also has experience in the foodservice and hospitality industry in restaurant management, and as director of catering at the Park Suite Hotel in Denver, CO.

Raised in Corning, NY, Ms. Harvin earned her Bachelor of Arts (Artium Baccalaureatus) degree in art history from Smith College in 1980. She is an active community volunteer and noted nationally for her presentations in etiquette and "savvy socializing."
